野羚羊还能在犹达山头

The wild gazelle on Judahs hills

欢快地跳跃不停，

Exulting yet may bound,

圣地到处有活泼溪流，

And drink from all the living rills

任凭它随意啜饮;

That gush on holy ground;

四蹄轻捷，两眼闪光，

Its airy step and glorious eye

不驯，喜悦，巡视着故乡。

May glance in tameless transport by: —

同样快的脚步，更亮的眼睛，

A step as fleet, an eye more bright,

犹达也曾经见识;

Hath Judah witnessd there;

在她那逝去的繁华旧境，

And oer her scenes of lost delight

居民够多么标致!

Inhabitants more fair.

黎巴嫩香柏依然在飘动，

The cedars wave on Lebanon,

犹达的少女已无影无踪!

But Judahs statelier maids are gone!

以色列儿孙云飞星散，

More blest each palm that shades those plains

怎及故乡的棕树!

Than Israels scatterd race;

它虽然寂寞，却风致宛然，

For, taking root, it there remains

牢固植根于故土;

In solitary grace:

它寸步不离生身的土壤，

It cannot quit its place of birth,

它岂肯浪迹于异域他乡!

It will not live in other earth.

我们却必得辛苦漂泊，

But we must wander witheringly,

葬身于陌生的土地;

In other lands to die;

列祖列宗长眠的故国，

And where our fathers ashes be,

却不容我们安息;

Our own may never lie:

圣殿夷平了，石头也不剩，

Our temple hath not left a stone,

撒冷宝座上高踞着“侮弄”!

And Mockery sits on Salems throne.
