A:How do you do?My name is Henry Levin,and I will be your teacher for this freshman English course.Now, Id like the students to give the class a self-introduction,so we can get to know each other.

B:Hi,my name is Pablo.I was born here in Miami,and I like going to the beach.

C:Hello,I am Gao Jun,and I just arrived from Beijing.I want to improve my English, and I hope to learn a lot this year.

D:Let me introduce myself.My name is Diana parker .Im the schools librarian.I take care of the books in the library.

E:May I introduce myself?Im James Murphy.Im a clerk. I type letters and reports.

F:Hi!I dont think weve met .Im a nurse.I take care of people who are sick.

G:Allow me to introduce myself.Im Mr. Peter Harris.Im the principal of this school.Its my job to make sure everything in the school runs smoothly.

Dialogue Two

A:An interesting meeting, isnt it?

B:Yes,very.I thought the last speaker was especially good.

A:Let me introduce myself,by the way.My names Thomas Bradley.

B:How do you do?Im Ted Nugent.

A:Sorry,what was your last name again?

B:Its Nugent,N-U-G-E-N-T,but just call me Ted.

A:Ok,Im Tom.

B:Glad to meet you.

A:And what do you do,Ted?

B:Me?Im in the car business.

A:Salesman?

B:Yes,thats right. And how about you?

A:I work for American Airlines.

B:Oh,really?What do you do there exactly?

A:Im in the Personnel Department.

A:Hot in here,isnt it?

B:Yeah,really.

A:Is it Ok if I sit here?

B:Of course.Suit yourself.

A:Thanks.My names Bill Peters,by the way.

B:Hi,Im Susan Jackson.

A:Nice to meet you.And what do you do, Susan?

B:Im a student at UCLA.

A:Oh,are you?And what are you studying?

B:Medicine.

A:Really?

B:Yes,I want to be a doctor one of these days.what about you?

A:Im an engineer, I work for Boeing.Say, would you like a drink?

B:Sure.Thanks.

Living in a new environment,you will make many new acquaintances. When you meet someone you do not already know, you will need to introduce yourself.In a self-introduction you give information about your name,where you come from,what you are doing,and so on.In a school setting,if you meet your classmates for the first time at the begining of a semester,you may need to make a detailed self-introduction:your name,where you come from,your major,your hobbies,the unique things about you and so on.
