常考词的语法与用法no matter、may和might

◆no matter ＋疑问词

no matter 后接 who, what, which, who, when, where等，用来引导让步状语从句，意为“不管”、“无论”等。如：

Don’t open the door, no matter who comes. 无论谁来，都不能开门。

No matter when you come, you’re welcome. 无论你何时来，我们都欢迎你。

We’ll have to finish it, no matter how long it takes. 不管要花多长时间，我们都要完成它。

注:“no matter＋疑问词”只能引导状语从句，不能引导名词性从句，因此此时要注意它与 whoever, whatever(可引导状语从句和名词性从句)的异同:

不管你说什么，我都不会相信你。

正：No matter what you say, I won’t believe you.

正：Whatever you say, I won’t believe you.

注：引导状语从句，用 no matter what 或 whatever 均可。

不管你给什么我都吃。

误：I’ll eat no matter what you give me.

正：I’ll eat whatever you give me.

注：引导宾语从句，可用 whatever 但不用 no matter what。

◆may we might as well be back home. 这个假日过得真没意思，我们还不如呆在家里。

4. 正式场合或书面语中，may 可用来表示祝愿。如：

May you be happy! 祝你幸福!

May God bless you! 愿上帝保佑你!
